Law Enforcement Agency – Latin America
Situation Summary
A law enforcement agency in Latin America collects and generates intelligence from many unrelated data sources, such as the population registrar, police and jail records, motor registrar, intercepted communications data, and call data records from service providers.
Because this information was located in 12 different databases, ranging from 5 million to over 50 million records in size, with different structures, formats, locations, and few common fields, it was difficult to search across all data. Moreover, these searches required data to be manually correlated. Identifying suspects and targets was further complicated because the population had not been issued identification numbers.
The agency required a system that could automatically simultaneously search and query all 12 databases quickly and efficiently, correlate the data, and analyze and present the information in a clear, timely way.
Results
The Verint® X-TRACT® solution provides the law enforcement agency with a unified platform for analyzing, investigating, and generating intelligence from multiple databases and files of different sizes, formats, structures, and locations, as well as from service providers’ call data records.
Remote query tools and indexing and data processing engines access and prepare all entities in the system, enabling advanced searches and queries across large volumes of data. Investigators can search for exact terms, use wildcards, date ranges, and other data parameters, expediting target identification despite the absence of identification numbers. Results are summarized and displayed in easy-to-navigate Dynamic Investigation Pages, which are kept with other related material in secure case management folders that can be shared within and beyond the agency. Moreover, X-TRACT’s open, modular architecture offers the agency the option for easy, low-cost expansion in the future.
