Law Enforcement Agency – Far East

Situation Summary

A prominent business man in the Far East was kidnapped for a very high ransom. The kidnappers used the hostage’s mobile phone to relay their ransom demands to the hostage’s family. To prevent exposure, the kidnappers changed the delivery site for the ransom money five times and drove two different cars.

Faced with this situation, the law enforcement agency needed to be able to covertly track the hostage and his kidnappers. With little or no information about the identity of the kidnappers, the police could rely on only one piece of information: the mobile phone of the hostage. The police needed a real-time, mobile solution that could adapt to sensitive operational scenarios, maintain the security and privacy of the operation, and locate the precise position of a moving target, no matter how obscure or distant.

Results

Police obtained their initial lead, an approximate location of the hostage, from the hostage’s communication service provider. In patrol cars fitted with the Verint® ENGAGE™ GI2 solution, police traveled to the area. Despite the kidnappers’ constant movement, ENGAGE GI2 was instrumental in enabling the police to identify the exact location of the kidnappers, make the arrest, and rescue the hostage.
